I am delighted to share my ‘vintage’( late 19th century) Dolley Madison Star quilt with you in this pattern. I have newer versions but with her history of service as First Lady, I felt it was fitting to use this quilt. It is a large block (so much easier to piece) which is common for this time period. I think we sometimes place a value on a block by how complicated it is to piece. This block will change your mind as the center 9 patch is a bit tricky to stay on grid but otherwise it pieces beautifully.
