Workshop Fees: 6hr class -$900  / 3hr class-$450
Workshops can have up to 20 students. $10 per student over 20.

Lecture Fee: $450 -Lectures include quilts and stories from all of my books.

 

Travel & Lodging
The sponsor is responsible for all travel expense, including travel to and from the Indianapolis airport, parking at the airport, lodging in a single non-smoking hotel room (for all seminars or symposiums with no added expense to presenter) and meals. I will drive if within 200 miles at current IRS allowed mileage.

Civil War Quilts

An in-depth look into this period of our history students will learn about women¹s contributions during the war, quilt patterns from this era, fabrics used in the quilts  and even delve into poetry and music of this era.  A class for everyone who yearns to know more about this tragic time in our history and what forces pitted  brother against brother. A rewarding class for all skill levels. 

My book Civil War Legacy which includes, songs, poems and 12 blocks from this period is required.

Double Dozen

This class is based on the book which includes 24 six inch blocks and 12 twelve inch blocks.  A wide variety of techniques will be explored as you choose the blocks you want to piece.  Many setting options will be available.

Eleanor's Eulogy
Length: 6hr class
Skill level: All levels

An original block designed for Eleanor Roosevelt makes up the center of this medallion style quilt.  A super opportunity to use multiple patterns in two color families.  We'll explore the different ways to piece half-square and quarter-square triangles as well as some tips on connectors to create the borders. A fun and informative class, designed for all skill levels.

Students will explore and study various African traditions and then apply into a folk-art type of quilt.  Raw-edge appliqué and free form log cabin blocks will finish out this masterpiece  We will also discuss many pieced block inspired by African art.  Great opportunity to use that ethnic fabric and bead collection.

Indigo Sampler NEW

This quilt uses six 12" blocks and eighteen 6" blocks in a fun setting.  I have used a wide variety of indigos but you could of course use your favorite colors . Emphasis will be placed on piecing the more difficult blocks and planning your setting.  A class full of fun and Smart Piecing techniques.

Working from the book Journey to Jericho you will plan and begin work on your own design for this cherished quilt.  Working with 12 blocks inspired by Bible stories, applique designs and smart piecing tips along the way, this will be an informative and exciting project.

Using specialty rulers you will make quick work of those pesky fan blades, plates, tumblers and much much more.  A great stash buster as well as having a super time.  You will need to use special rulers for this class.

PPQ's (Partial Pieced Quilts)
Length: 3hr class
Skill level: All levels

Everyone who has ever pieced must have at least one of these ppq¹s in their closet.  Time to bring them out of storage and rid yourself of the guilt (I've never had this problem).  We'll explore finishing techniques and help get you over the block (no pun intended).  The floor will be open for any and all discussions relating to quiltmaking.

RMS Titanic NEW

Skill level: Beginner to Advanced

We’ll pay homage to the tragedy of 1912 when the Titanic sank and over one thousand five hundred people lost their lives. The ballroom floor design was formed with a quilt block that we will piece using quick techniques.

Many options on settings and piecing will be covered.

Scrap Mania (or The 45 Special)
Length: 6hr class
Skill level: Confident beginner/advanced

Students 45 patterns utilizing many different setting designs.  The class explores different ways to combine blocks and techniques to improve piecing skills.  Primary focus is on designing with scraps.  Students should leave class with a more relaxed attitude about combining fabrics.  A definite confidence builder for beginners and great fun for more advance piecers.  I recommend cutting strips to share as most quilters stash represent their favorite colors and therefore limits their scrap study.

This beautiful quilt was designed for McCall's to celebrate those touched by breast cancer.  The entire quilt is made from 2 1/2" strips utilizing four specialty rulers. A fun easy workshop for all skill levels.

Strippy Quilts

Skill level: Beginner to Advanced

This wonderful quilt setting can be reproduced so easily with new piecing techniques.  Patterns will be supplied for optional blocks to be used in the strippy setting and I will share antique quilts using this type of setting.

A simple but rewarding quilt and a perfect place to use that set of antique blocks you¹ve collected.  You will actually like diagonal settings after this class. Patterns furnished.

Somewhere in Time

Using either of the above books which include 14 quilts, you can select your favorite pattern, choose fabric and come to class expecting thorough assistance with executing these designs.  Much emphasis will be placed on working with different size blocks, selecting fabrics and designing your setting.

Voices of the Past

Working with my fabric lines (or any of the reproduction fabrics) and Voices of the Past volume I or II, you will create your treasured piece from the past using these reproduction fabrics.  We will discuss pattern choices suitable for this period and  will explore quick piecing options and techniques. Appliqué borders will be discussed.  You should leave class with a plan for your own quilt and some finished blocks.  We¹ll explore sashings and settings. Travels into the past visiting my books Voices of the Past will inspire you to begin this project.
